Bishop D Eugene Hurley DD
Bishop Hurley was Bishop of the Port Pirie Diocese from 1999 – 2007 and was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Darwin in August 2007. He is currently Chair of the Bishops’ Commission for Pastoral Life and Deputy Chair of the Bishops’ Commission for Caritas Australia. He has worked in support of rural and remote communities and has been an advocate for refugees and detainees. He has a postgraduate qualification in Education and Counselling.
Br P Dean McGlaughlin CFC OAM
Dean McGlaughlin is a Christian Brother and a member of the Leadership Team of the Brothers’ Oceania Province comprising Australia, the Cook Islands, Timor-Leste, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. From 2002, when he finished as Headmaster of Rostrevor College, Adelaide, he was the Chairman of the National Planning Committee for Schools Governance, a project developing new governance structures for the Congregation’s schools in Australia. At the same time he facilitated the restructuring of the Christian Brothers five Provinces across Oceania and the Edmund Rice Region and worked with the Institutes in Transition Taskforce of the Australian Catholic Leaders of Religious Institutes on the “Framework of Governance for the Future”. The schools governance and the Province restructuring projects came to fruition on October 1st 2007 when the new Oceania Province and Edmund Rice Education Australia were commissioned.
Dr Katharine Massam
Katharine Massam is Professor of Church History at the Uniting Church Theological College. She is particularly interested in the history of Christian spirituality, and in exploring the patterns of faith and belief that have shaped the lives of people in Australia. Her publications include Sacred Threads: Catholic Spirituality in Australia, and recent work focused on missionary women including the forthcoming book Benedictine Missionary Women of New Norcia.
