A message from the conference chair
This conference has become a fixture in the calendars of leaders in Catholic Education. Since our last conference in 2007, a great deal has happened. All over the world, new external accountabilities, growing secularisation and an increasing gap between the values of home and school challenge leaders to continually renew their understanding of the mission and identity of Catholic schools.
Here in Australia, a change of government has brought about new national directions in education, and a new stance on significant social issues, most significant of which has been Reconciliation.
World Youth Day has touched every school and parish in the country. In the midst of the constant press for change, it is important that leaders make the space to reconnect with new thinking and with colleagues new and old as they seek to renew their own practice and the work of their schools and systems.
This conference is a wonderful opportunity for this renewal. It is tailored to the needs and interests of Catholic educational leaders in schools, systems and networks of religious schools. It provides opportunities to hear some of the foremost thinkers in the field, and to interact with colleagues from right across Australia and internationally. In 2010 we expect around 400 delegates, internationally renowned keynote speakers, delegate papers and a small trade exhibition.
Our theme this year A Beacon of Hope: A Light for the Future, is both positive and future oriented. Dont leave it until later. Register your expression of interest now to secure your place at this unique conference.
