This unit is designed for student teachers to develop an understanding of the way in which the Studies of Classical Societies, Contemporary Australian Society, History (Australian History, Renaissance Italy, and Revolutions), International Studies and Political Studies, are taught and studied in Years 11 and 12. The relevant state curriculum documents which describe the different studies are introduced to the student teachers. Methods for developing courses that include appropriate learning activities, [with special reference given to information technology and new learning technologies], to enable students to develop the knowledge and skills identified in the outcome statements in each unit “are explored. Attention is given to assessment and reporting. The different assessment priorities for units 1 and 2 and units 3 and 4 are examined and practice is undertaken in the selection of appropriate assessment tasks and relevant correction processes.
