EDFD659 Leading Teaching and Learning

20 cp

Preparation for taking and/or developing a leading role in the contested fields of teaching, learning and curriculum construction is the main focus of this unit. It critically applies a range of theoretical perspectives to key aspects such as quality pedagogy, assessment, dealing with individual learning differences, and utilisation of technology and resource-based learning. Participants will be expected to engage in discourse about beliefs as educators and the influence of these beliefs on their role as facilitators of learning. Participants will be required to explore at least two of these aspects in detail. They may focus these explorations within a specific discipline area. Participants will be required to analyse the research literature and respond critically in the light of the theoretical perspectives discussed, the context of education locally, nationally and globally, and education as a lifelong process. A key focus will be on catering for diversity and developing autonomous learners in a rapidly developing technological world.
