EDCU620 Dance Curriculum Studies: Advanced Professional Practice
10 cp
This unit is designed to provide primary teachers with the opportunity of studying theoretical, historical and pedagogical issues associated with dance education. It also provides an examination of ways of using dance as an aesthetic means of structuring and ordering gesture and motion to convey ideas, images and feelings using the human body as a mean of communication and expression. Through the exploration and analysis of contemporary theoretical and pedagogical frameworks of educational dance, students will gain understanding of how dance can be applied effectively in the primary classroom. The preparation of meaningful dance units for the primary classroom will be explored along with managing dance education in the primary classroom context.
