Prerequisites COUN106 Introduction to Counselling
Teaching Organisation 3 contact hours per week for 12 weeks or equivalent.
This unit introduces the student to major theories, which inform counselling, and psychotherapy practice, together with their key principles and techniques, and underlying philosophical viewpoints. Theories will include behavioural, cognitive, psychodynamic, existential and humanistic approaches. The impact of research on practice will be considered.
