Minimum duration: 4 years full-time or equivalent part-time.

Course available at: Brisbane, Queensland

EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

1. Definitions

“Major”: 80 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 60 cp at advanced level.

“Minor”: 40 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 20 cp at advanced level.

2. Requirements for Completion of the Degree21

To qualify for the degree, a student must complete:

1. 320 cp consisting of:

  1. 160 cp in accordance with the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree, consisting of22:      
    1. 80 cp from 1 Major; 
    2. 40 cp from 1 Minor; 
    3. 40 cp from other units from the Bachelor of Arts which may be:
      1. 40 cp from advanced level units in the same discipline as the Minor making a second Major; or   
      2. 20 cp from advanced level units from same discipline as the Minor, and 20 cp from Theology units listed in the Schedule of Unit Offerings below;   
  2. 160 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
    1. 80 cp from Education Studies;
    2. 60 cp from Curriculum Studies; 
    3. 20 cp from Extended Reflective Practice or equivalent;

and

2.

  1. 4 Professional Experience units; and
  2. 1 Community Engagement Program unit.

21 Requirements for working with children: All students enrolled must have the appropriate approvals before they may enter a classroom. These are: Blue Card (Qld), Working with Children Background Check (ACT, Vic, NSW). International students should check this with the Course Co-ordinator and may need to bring documentation from their own countries.
22 Students must chose the Curriculum Studies unit sequences they wish to study than choose their Arts major and minor, which must be in the correct discipline areas.
23 40 cp are to be taken from Curriculum and Teaching Studies units which build on discipline sequences already taken and include two Curriculum and Teaching Studies units in each of two teaching subject areas.
To be eligible to enrol in a Curriculum and Teaching Studies sequence, a student must either have satisfactorily completed the prerequisite study prescribed for that Curriculum and Teaching Study or be able to demonstrate knowledge or skills approved by the Course Co-ordinator as equivalent. In the case of Religious Education, the designated Theological Studies units are co-requisites.
