See the world through the eyes of others
Our students have soul. They have heart. But more than that – they have the courage to turn their compassion into action. We empower our students to achieve their goals, and accomplish something incredible for themselves, and for others.
If you want to look beneath the surface, stand up for what you believe in, and redefine success – you’re going to thrive at ACU. Here’s why:
We see the whole person
We offer a welcoming environment for everyone – irrespective of your socio-cultural background, religious beliefs or aspirations. We’re inclusive and supportive of everyone, every day.
At ACU, you will be encouraged and supported to reach your full potential. From academic skills to career and counselling services, we have a range of support services to help you succeed. We also offer nearly 400 scholarships. Some reward academic or community achievements, and others help out students experiencing disadvantage.
The world is our campus
We’re a dynamic institution with a fast growing national and international footprint. We’ll put you at the centre of a vibrant global network of scholars, partnerships and opportunities.
At ACU, you’ll have the chance to study overseas with one of more than 200 partner institutions around the world. Our diverse range of international community engagement opportunities means you could find yourself teaching children in Vanuatu, assisting in a community organisation in Cambodia, working with a welfare agency in Florence, or helping to develop youth soccer teams in Timor Leste.
Our new campus in Rome provides you with a unique opportunity to deepen your knowledge and understanding of the foundations of western society.
We’re deeply engaged with industry and society
We’re closely integrated into our communities and professions, working with them to answer the big questions, as well as to create tangible results with true mutual value and benefit.
Industry and community collaborations are a central component of our courses, and our research programs tackle enduring and pressing issues in society. From hospitals, to businesses, to schools, our students and staff roll up their sleeves and engage in the real world.
As our student, you’ll reap real rewards from our connections. Thanks to our partnerships with industry and communities, all our courses offer work placements or internships with leading companies, or volunteering opportunities. And that matters in more ways than one. Our courses are highly regarded in the workplace, and the employment rate of our bachelor degree graduates is consistently higher than the national average.*

Education with a greater purpose
Our intellectual pursuits are inspired by a heartfelt ethical position: we stand up for people in need and causes that matter on our quest for a better common future for humanity.
We aim to teach you to see the world from a new perspective, and through the eyes of others. Our purpose is to empower you to make your mark remarkable, and build your empire out of empathy.
Our Core Curriculum is integral to this vision. A critical part of your studies at ACU, the Core invites you to reflect on ways we can change the world by applying the principles of Catholic Social Thought to the challenges of today – principles such as the common good, dignity of the human person, solidarity with others, and stewardship of the earth.
We’re committed to serving the greater good in theory, and in practice. To reinforce our intellectual pursuits, we provide a range of real volunteer opportunities for our students. And deliver multiple community engagement projects, including:
- access to a university education for refugees living on the Thai Burma border
- assistance with building capacity for education, healthcare, sport and wellbeing in Timor Leste
- homework support for refugee children living in Australia
- tertiary education to Australians facing multiple disadvantages and social isolation, such mental illness or homelessness.
Numbers that count
We enjoy an impressive list of accolades and achievements. Our staff, students and researchers have an outstanding reputation, and are recognised for their significant contributions to the local and international community. Learn more about excellence at ACU.
