  • Director, Institute for Catholic Identity and Mission
  • Director, Institute for Advancing Community Engagement

  • Student representative
  • A nominee from two Directorates of the University for a one-year term

Terms of Reference

Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the Identity and Mission Committee shall:

  • foster the University's Catholic identity into its structures, functions and practices;
  • remain cognisant of the principles of Ex Corde Ecclesiae;
  • stimulate, coordinate and support initiatives which promote the Catholic identity and mission of Australian Catholic University;
  • stimulate and participate in endeavours to make the University's commitment to the Catholic intellectual tradition more publicly visible;
  • promote the Catholic cultural tradition through art, music and literature;
  • manifest social teaching and social thought in the Australian Catholic University
  • embed, stimulate and support the activities, and advise on the work of the Directorate of Identity and Mission, Institute for Catholic Identity and Mission and Institute for Advancing Community Engagement;
  • advise on and contribute to the calendar of Identity and Mission events hosted by the Faculties, Directorate of Identity and Mission, Institute for Catholic Identity and Mission, Institute for Advancing Community Engagement and Office of Student Success;
  • support, advise and contribute to the University’s formation programme;
  • support and contribute to the Core Curriculum

Review

The Committee reviews its procedures regularly and recommends accordingly to the Vice-Chancellor.  Its terms of reference were reviewed by Senate in August 1998, June 2002, June 2006, September 2010 and November 2012.  The Committee was retitled Identity and Mission Committee in May 2010, and commenced reporting to the Vice-Chancellor in November 2012.
