Academics from Australian Catholic University’s (ACU) Public Policy Institute (PPI) are available to comment on findings from the Gonski review of school funding –released on Monday 20 February 2012, along with the Government’s response.
The Institute has released three authoritative research reports over the past year looking at aspects of education and school funding - specifically Education and Equity, Choice and Values in Education and Parental Contributions to Education.
Professor Scott Prasser, Executive Director of the PPI and a public policy and inquiry expert, said the report could have far-reaching implications for schooling in Australia.
“The need for an objective and comprehensive exploration of school funding was widely accepted,” he said. “Since its appointment in April 2010, the Gonski Committee has not given any public indication of its thinking. Its report and the Government’s response will need careful analysis for its likely effect on quality, equity and choice in Australian schooling.”
The Public Policy Institute has a national focus and is committed to engaging widely with a range of issues and groups.
