Amongst others, Dr Ballard’s achievements at Mercy Health include the successful relocation of a major tertiary service; establishment of a Foundation to support teaching, research and training; establishment of a registered training organisation and; establishment of a clinical school on a hospital site.
Dr Ballard has worked in senior executive roles with the Sisters of Charity Health System, in various positions with ACT hospitals, and in policy roles within the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet in Canberra.

ACU Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Craven welcomed Dr Ballard, and said he looked forward to his leadership and contributions to ACU Melbourne and the overall University community.
“As a member of both ACU’s Victorian Chapter, and the Advisory Board of ACU’s Business School in Sydney, Dr Ballard has a working knowledge of the University which will undoubtedly be a great asset in this significant role,” he said.
Dr Ballard will replace Mr Chris Sheargold, who retires after 35 years of outstanding service to ACU and its predecessor colleges.
