Australian Catholic University (ACU) is sponsoring an exclusive tour by high profile American priest Father Robert Barron – an acclaimed author, speaker, and theologian.
His television series Catholicism, which raised $3 million in funding, has just been picked up by PBS in the United States (US) and will air on more than 80 public television stations. Set in 50 locations in over 16 countries, the series examines major themes within the Church.
Fr Barron said the series comes at time when the US is going through what he believes to be “the darkest period in the history of the American Catholic Church,” and the “wrong” people are telling the story of what the Church actually is.
Fr Barron is the Francis Cardinal George Professor of Faith and Culture at the University of Mary of the Lake, near Chicago and has held various university postings.
He is the first priest to have a national show on a secular television network in over 60 years and he is a frequent commentator on faith and culture for The Chicago Tribune, NBC Nightly News, Fox News, Our Sunday Visitor, Catholic Herald and Catholic New World.
