16 April 2010: Education graduates from Australian Catholic University (ACU) have been awarded 28 of 50 places in the Targeted Graduate Teacher Employment Program, offered by the Catholic Education Office (CEO), Sydney.
Professor Marea Nicholson, Associate Vice-Chancellor (Sydney), with ACU education graduates and Executive Director of the CEO, Dan White.
The program provides successful applicants with significant employment support when seeking a teaching position in a systemic Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Sydney.
ACU students joined recipients from 11 other universities recently to celebrate their selection into the Program.
Dr Karen Maras, Senior Lecturer in Education, said she was not surprised that ACU students had filled the majority of the places.
“ACU has the largest Faculty of Education in the country, and a long tradition of producing graduate teachers who are well placed to become quality teachers and educational leaders,” she said.
“The Catholic Education Office, Sydney has long been a partner and wonderful supporter of the University and specifically the Faculty of Education, and we are grateful for this wonderful opportunity they are providing for our graduates.”
