9 April 2010: ACU’s Melbourne and North Sydney campuses recently launched ACUmates, a new social program aimed at linking international and local students through a variety of fun and inclusive events and activities.
Welcome events were held at both campuses, involving a range of ‘getting to know you’ activities and a free pizza dinner.
ACUmates was launched by the Office of Student Success, in partnership with the International Education Office and the Melbourne (MCSA) and North Sydney (MAKSA) Student Associations.
The program is open to all local and international students on the two campuses.
James Wood, Campus Life Officer and coordinator of the Melbourne program, said ACUmates was a great way for international students to meet local students from different programs and year levels in an informal setting.
“The program has a committed group of student leaders to facilitate discussions and interaction between participants,” he said. “A busy schedule of activities for this year includes city tours, trips to the zoo, and NRL and AFL matches.”
If you would like to take part in the ACUmates program as either a student or leader, please contact James Wood for the Melbourne program (email@example.com) or Joshua Ang at North Sydney (Joshua.firstname.lastname@example.org).
