Ashleigh has won Bronze in the Floor Exercise and Gold in the Team Artistic Gymnastics final alongside her fellow gymnasts Georgia Bonora, Emily Little, Lauren Mitchell and Georgia Wheeler.
Meanwhile, Exercise science student and Paralympic swimmer Andrew Pasterfield took out Silver in the 100m Freestyle; and Exercise science student Sarah Katsoulis took home Bronze in the 200m Breaststroke.
Grant Nel (Diving) and Rachel Lynch (Hockey), recent graduates of ACU, have also performed well with Grant collecting a Bronze medal in the three-meter Springboard; while Rachel is playing in Wednesday’s Gold Medal match against New Zealand (13 October).
On behalf of the ACU community, we congratulate Andrew, Ashleigh, Grant, Rachel and Sarah on their achievements, and wish Rachel all the best for the Hockey Final.
Twenty-one-year-old Grant Nel, one of Australia's top male divers, will be competing in the one and three-springboard as well as the three-springboard synchro. Grant has recently been studying at Texas A & M University to further his career while competing in the NCAA Championships.
Sarah Katsoulis, 26, is a member of Australia's 'hot favourite' swimming team and will be competing in the breaststroke events where she is the current Commonwealth Record-Holder at 50 metres.
Ashleigh Brennan, 19, has already achieved a rare feat by returning to top level of competition after taking a year's break for study following her role in Australia's best-ever Olympic performance in women's gymnastics at Beijing. She will enter the competition fighting for gold as one of Australia's most experienced competitive gymnasts.
Andrew Pasterfield, 20, first represented Australia in 2007 at the Can-Am Championships in Canada and walked away with one gold and three bronze medals. In 2008, he competed at the Beijing Paralympics where he swam three personal bests and placed seventh in the 100m backstroke.
Recent Bachelor of Nursing graduate, Rachel Lynch, will be attending the Commonwealth Games as a member of the Hockeyroos.
