Supporting staff to reach their potential

ACU continues to be recognised for its leading workplace practices that support all staff to develop their careers and to reach their potential. The University was awarded a Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation on 21 February 2018 for the sixth year running. The Federal Government's Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) awarded the citation after a rigorous assessment of ACU's practices that support the career development and the full participation of women and men in the workplace.

The citation highlights ACU's continued achievements in this area since the University was awarded with the EOWA Employer of Choice for Women citation in 2011. The University also won an EOWA Business Achievement award in the Leading Organisation for the Advancement of Women (>800 employees) category in 2011.

These awards recognise ACU as an employer that supports family-friendly practices and understands the benefits of a diverse workforce. Workplace provisions include leading-practice parental leave and a range of flexible working arrangements that support staff members throughout their employment. These provisions, along with support for career development, have contributed to high levels of female representation at all levels of the University.

A whole-of-University approach to Gender Equality

ACU’s commitment to equality and supporting all of our staff is aligned with the University’s Mission and values. We continue to affirm this commitment through progressing the Gender Equality Strategy 2015-2020.
