This two-week volunteer/community engagement opportunity in Thailand will be offered from 30 June to 14 July 2018, and again from 7 July to 21 July 2018. The program is open to ACU students from a range of faculties. You will work with local staff to offer education in formal and informal settings to at-risk children and young adults aged five to 18.

In particular, you will build on the children’s knowledge, encouraging them to practice their spoken English through conversation.

The program aims to:

• build the educational capacity of the local community
• ensure there is mutual benefit and learning between the local community and ACU participants
• increase the children’s self-confidence and personal skills through providing extra-curricular educational initiatives enhance the English language skills of local staff and students.

Student position description

You will undertake your volunteer and/or community engagement experience in the local community by:

• leading conversational English classes
• coordinating and delivering extra-curricular activities
• working in small teaching groups, alongside local teachers.

Student requirements

All requirements will be advised upon acceptance into the program. A variety of forms will need to be completed.

A Working With Children Check will be required.

A selection interview will take place.
