Kedron State High School is located on Brisbane’s north side and has a large population of students from refugee and migrant backgrounds. ACU Engagement partners with the school in supporting an afternoon homework club where these students can receive support for their homework tasks and assignments. Many of these students have been in Australia for less than five years.
Students from several schools at ACU, including occupational therapy, speech pathology, and social work, have completed community engagement hours at the homework club, helping the students with their high school studies. ACU Engagement supports the homework club during the school’s terms two and three.
There is approximately 30 hours available each school term for each ACU student. You will be providing homework and assignment support for high school students who are mostly from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
Three to five places are available, depending on Kedron State High School’s student uptake.*
A Working With Children Check (blue card) is a requirement.
*Currently the program is under review, so available places may increase.
