Green Team activities are targeted at people in the community who experience difficulty maintaining their gardens, including those who are elderly or have a disability, and those supported by Society services or Conference Members. These activities are planned in advance and rostered to suit both the location and the volunteers. The Green Team program aims to:
Lessen the burden of those who are unable to manage maintenance tasks in their outdoor spaces.
Share stories and stretch out the hand of friendship to people who are lonely and/or marginalised.
Promote friendship, compassion, dignity and community.
Provide an opportunity for volunteers to make a difference to the lives of others.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to work with our team of experienced Green Team volunteers to:
Participate in activities that relieve the physical burdens of vulnerable people.
Engage with people who are lonely and/or marginalised.
Assist in maintaining the Society’s services such as crisit accommodation properties.
Engage with other like-minded young adults to share ideas, create awareness of social justice issues and enact change in the local and broader community.
All volunteers will be required to:
Attend an interview.
Complete a Volunteer Application, providing the contact details of two referees.
