Community engagement refers to collaborations between universities and their larger communities for the mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity.
Community engagement is the mutual, reciprocal, and respectful exchange of ideas, practices, and applications between partners, which enables universities to make tangible contributions to the common good.
At ACU, our aim isn't just to help others in the short term, but to work with and listen to communities to forge long-term relationships and develop meaningful solutions to complex problems.
Why should I get involved?
Community engagement gives us opportunities to live ACU’s Mission.
Our projects contribute to the common good, address social justice issues in the community, provide assistance to those that are disadvantaged – and In so many other ways contribute to the University’s mission and strategic plan.
Our community engagement activities help ACU staff and students develop their professional networks, communication and leadership skills – while supporting the poor and vulnerable in our communities.
Many of our staff and students chose ACU because they see that community engagement is valued and encouraged.
