First Melbourne Clemente Students graduate

Melbourne Campus students, David Kerr and Helen Sullivan, are the first students to complete all four units of the Certificate in Liberal Studies offered through Australian Catholic University's (ACU) Melbourne Catalyst-Clemente Program.

Clemente is a community program which aims to bring university-level education to disadvantaged and marginalised people and is supported by ACU and Mission Australia.

Representatives from ACU, Mission Australia and learning partners, joined friends and family at the Clemente Graduation Ceremony last week, to recognise the achievements of the graduates and those who have contributed to the success of the program.

Annie Flack, Clemente Program Coordinator, said the students hope to continue with their education next year. Helen has applied for the Bachelor of Arts at ACU's Melbourne Campus and David is looking at studying Horticulture.

"These students have been courageous in the challenges they've been willing to tackle and in going outside their comfort zones," said Annie. "Their achievements have been a real testament to the value of community, and their ability to commit to a better future."
