Pre-service teachers connect with the professional community

Master of Teaching (Primary) students from ACU's Brisbane Campus recently participated in the annual 'sharefest' of the Studies of Society and Environment Association of Queensland (SOSEAQ).

The event bought together pre-service teachers from universities across Queensland, practising teachers and SOSEAQ consultants, to share their unit designs along with other projects.

Rosalie Shawcross, Education Queensland's Principal Education Officer for Values Education, was so impressed with the work of two ACU students, Lynelle Davis and Karina Edlond, that she placed their unit design on Education Queensland's website. 

In addition, a ceremony was also held at the Brisbane Campus to present the top-performing graduating education students with awards from professional industry associations and publishers.

The highest performing students in religious education, Hanna Halonen and Emma Fisher, were awarded the prestigious Catherine McAuley Education Award from The Sisters of Mercy.

Awards were also presented from organisations including Early Childhood Association Queensland, The Australian Literacy Educators Association and Oxford University Press.
