White Ribbon Day supporters at the Melbourne Campus
ACU staff support White Ribbon Day
Staff at the University's six campuses wore white ribbons on Wednesday to demonstrate their support for a national campaign to end violence against women.
White Ribbon Day asks all Australian men to be conscious of their own attitudes and of those around them towards women, and to be aware of positive steps they can take in challenging violent attitudes and behaviours.
Professor Greg Craven, Vice-Chancellor, said White Ribbon Day was aligned with the University's mission and identified with the dignity of all human beings.
"One in three Australian women will experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime," he said. "Focusing attention on this issue, encouraging individuals and communities to speak out and understanding that we must be respectful in our relationships will all assist in achieving social change."
