Cardinal John Foley
Brisbane Campus welcomes Cardinal
Cardinal John Foley, Grand Master of The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and Monsignor Hans Brouwers, Vice Chancellor of the Order, visited ACU's Brisbane Campus this week.
The guests were greeted by staff and students, including the University's Chancellor Brother Julian McDonald, Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Craven and Rector of the Holy Spirit Seminary, Monsignor Anthony Randazzo.
Professor Craven said it was a great honour to receive Cardinal Foley and Monsignor Brouwers at the University.
"It was my pleasure to welcome our guests to the University, and discuss our unique Catholic identity and mission and our niche as one of only two Catholic universities in Australia," he said.
McAuley Student Association President, Christine Tesch, said it was interesting to hear the Cardinal speak about his time as a student.
"Cardinal Foley was a student leader while studying at university," she said. "He said it was great to see so many people are involved in changing and improving student life at ACU."
The guests visited Brisbane after several weeks touring Perth and Adelaide, and will conclude their Australian visit in Sydney next week.
