Media Communication degree launched by Jeff McMullen
Journalist, author and humanitarian, Jeff McMullen, last night launched ACU's newest degree, the Bachelor of Media Communication, at the University's Melbourne Campus.
The three-year full-time degree will be offered at the Melbourne Campus and is aimed at producing media professionals who are critically informed, with a strong understanding of social injustice and diversity.
Professor Margot Hillel OAM, Acting Dean of Arts and Sciences, said the new course, unlike those offered elsewhere, would offer ethical and spiritual perspectives.
"This exciting new course builds on ACU's current media offerings in Melbourne," she said. "Young people in particular live in a world where traditional media is shrinking and new media is expanding, a situation recognised in the structure of the new course."
Students will develop skills in a broad range of media including video, radio and print, engaging in theoretical and critical perspectives while remaining considerate of a culturally diverse audience.
