Australian Learning and Teaching Council Awards

The Australian Learning and Teaching Council recently released a new round of priority project grants awarded to ACU researchers.

Dr Josephine Ryan and Ms Mellita Jones from the Faculty of Education are leading a partnership with La Trobe University. They have won a grant for a project on 'Pre-service teacher education partnerships: creating an effective practicum model for rural and regional pre-service teachers'. The project will build on previous work by Dr Ryan and Ms Jones, which was funded by ACU. This is the first project in the category with ACU as the lead institution.

In the Leadership for Excellence in Learning and Teaching program, Professor Yoni Ryan (Learning & Teaching Centre) is representing ACU in a group led by the University of Wollongong. The project will investigate 'Subject coordinators; leading professional development for sessional staff and aims to improve capacity for academic leadership and management of the teaching team'.

Also in the Leadership for Excellence in Learning and Teaching program, Ms Ann Applebee (Learning and Teaching Centre) is the ACU member in a group led by RMIT University. The project will explore and identify the synergies between current and past ALTC funded Distributed Leadership grants to support wider national dissemination and uptake of resources and frameworks developed.

In addition, Professor Yoni Ryan will be a member of the Reference Group for the research project 'Coalface subject coordinators the missing link to building leadership capacities in the academic supply chain'.

Professor Ryan will also be an assessor for Priority Projects 2009-2010.
