Linking World's Project
The Linking World's Project was recently launched by ACU's Centre for Creative and Authentic Leadership Director, Associate Professor Michael Bezzina and Vice-Chancellor of the Bachelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education (BIITE), Professor Jeannie Herbert.
The Linking World's project is concerned with strengthening the leadership capacity of Indigenous educational leaders in remote education settings.
The project was made possible with the help of the Australian Research Council's funding.
The research was led by Professor Tony d'Arbon and Dr Jack Frawley from the Centre for Creative and Authentic Leadership, BIITE's Associate Professor Lyn Fasoli and Indigenous Research Officer Ms Robyn Ober, over a four year period.
Professor Tony d'Arbon said the research found that education systems should change their perspective to encompass an intercultural understanding of Indigenous education.
Associate Professor Lyn Fasoli, said that the researchers spoke to emphasise key intercultural capabilities often neglected in mainstream theories of educational leadership.
"Intercultural capabilities are central to effective and sustainable educational leadership in remote Indigenous schools, both at local and system levels," said Professor Fasoli.
