Uncovering Theology project launch
The report of the Uncovering Theology project – looking at the depth, reach and utility of Australian theological education – was launched recently in Adelaide by Professor Gabrielle McMullen, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at ACU.
Published by ATF Press the book is the result of a 16-month long project led by Rev Dr Charles Sherlock, Executive Officer of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Theological Schools, and funded by the Australian Teaching and Learning Council.
Co-chairs of the project, Drs Mark Harding and Neil Ormerod, Professor of Theology at ACU, said the project “marked the emergence of theological education as a part of the mainstream of the Australian higher education landscape”.
Launching the book, Professor McMullen highlighted three themes in its pages. The “recognition and respect for the traditions of member churches in an atmosphere of mutuality and ecumenical cooperation”, followed by the themes of faith and service.
“I am not a theologian but rather a scientist and university administrator who is deeply interested in, and strongly committed to, the development of Australian theology and theological education,” she said. “I offer my sincere congratulations to all involved.”
