University Experience
The Canberra Campus (Signadou) recently opened its doors to give school students and non-recent school leavers the opportunity to sample their degree of choice at ‘University Experience’.
More than 50 prospective students participated in the program in the hope of deciding on their future career direction.
Students had the opportunity to attend interactive lectures and practical tutorials in primary education, early childhood education, nursing and theology. Attendees also participated in sessions about ACU’s Early Achievers' Program and the application process.
Year 12 student Genevieve Fleeton from Daramalan College attended the experience day and is considering a career in health sciences.
“It was great to get hands on, practical experience in the nursing lab and conduct the procedures real nurses perform on a day to day basis,” she said.
Ms Marie Fisher, Acting Course Coordinator of Primary Education said the event was a huge success.
“Participants were extremely pleased at being given the opportunity to sample their options in such an interactive way,” she said.
“They were also impressed by the approachable, knowledgeable and friendly nature of the academic staff and current students.”
The ‘University Experience’ program continues on all campuses over the coming months.
