New staff appointments

Professor Thomas Martin was recently appointed as Professor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor(Research) of the University, commencing 5 October 2009.

Professor Martin has a Bachelor of Veterinary Science, Diploma of Veterinary Pathology, Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Business Administration, all awarded by the University of Sydney.

His excellent scholarly record includes publications in neurotoxicology, biomedical implants and orthopaedics, diabetes research and analgesia in national and international journals. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Comparative Medicine and the Journal of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.

Associate Professor Patrick McArdle
has been appointed as Director of the Institute of Catholic Identity and Mission.

Associate Professor McArdle has held numerous positions in the School of Theology including Head of the School (ACT), and has served as a Member of the ACT Chapter since 2002. He is also Campus Dean of the Canberra Campus (Signadou).

Ms Maria Hegerty has been appointed as Executive Manager, Office of Student Success, commencing 20 July 2009.

Maria holds a Masters in Educational Leadership, a Graduate Diploma of Community Counselling, Bachelor of Education, Graduate Diploma in Special Education, Diploma in Teaching, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and a Master Coaching Certificate.

Finally, Dr Alan Cadwallader, from Flinders University and the Adelaide College of Divinity is the most recent addition to the Faculty of Theology in Canberra.  Dr Cadwallader’s speciality is biblical studies, especially the archaeology of biblical sites. His academic background includes arts, law and theology.
