Children at the holiday program
ACU hosts holiday program for refugee kids
Children from refugee backgrounds enjoyed a fun-filled day of holiday entertainment last week at the University’s Melbourne Campus (St. Patrick’s).
Almost 60 children participated in activities from computer games, art and craft, and music, to movies, a treasure hunt and a colouring-in competition.
The day was organised by the Institute for Advancing Community Engagement (IACE) at ACU, and is an extension of the Atherton Gardens Homework Club - where education students volunteer as tutors to help young children from refugee backgrounds with their studies.
Mary Campbell, ACU Relations Coordinator for IACE said, “I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for the incredible support of all the volunteers in making the holiday program such a success. It was great fun, and I’m sure that everyone was exhausted at the end of the day!”
