Students travel to KoreaStudents on their way to Korea for a Cultural Exchange Program.

Korean Cultural Exchange Program

Ten students from ACU’s School of Education recently departed for a cultural exchange program in Seoul, South Korea.

The program is an outcome of a ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ between ACU, Jungnang Council in Seoul and Strathfield Council in Sydney, which aims to provide young children in Korean primary and secondary schools with the opportunity to interact with native speakers of English.

Over the past few months, the students have prepared a variety of learning activities to teach the students English. Activities will provide an insight into Australian culture, history and society.

Accompanying the students are School of Education lecturers Jillian Kennedy and Matthew Campbell, who will work to strengthen cultural ties with Korea when they meet with key people in Jungnang Council District.

Students will be hosted by families from the Jungnang Council District during their four week stay.

The students participating are Stephen Thomas, Ranin Burbar, Kylie Seymour, Margaret Raymond, Bregitta van Reesch, Melissa Newman, Sharon Chan, Rosemary Woods, Maryanne McNally and Therese Hogan.
