Media Communication course coming to Melbourne
We live in a world with an evolving media landscape, with changing demands of the media industry. For this reason, producing media professionals that are socially responsible and critically informed is a key aspect of the new Media Communication degree at ACU.
This reflects ACU’s focus on creating a generation of future leaders who are committed to the common good and apply ethical principles to their work.
Acting Dean, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Professor Margot Hillel OAM, said: “This course, unlike those offered elsewhere, will offer ethical and spiritual perspectives”.
“This exciting new course builds on ACU’s current media offerings in Melbourne. Young people in particular, live in a world where traditional media is shrinking and new media is expanding, a situation recognised in the structure of the new course.”
Students will develop skills and experience in a broad range of media including video, radio and print, engaging in theoretical and critical perspectives while remaining considerate of a culturally diverse audience.
The Bachelor of Media Communication offers breadth, flexibility and diversity of experience with a focus on social justice and diversity.
Students undertake workplace training through an internship as well as the completion of a volunteer work experience unit and can take up a career in anything from writing to marketing, working in political offices and social media.
