Photography competition unites talented snappers
Community Spirit is the theme of the Pixel Prize this year, a photography competition open to high school students in Queensland, Victoria and NSW.
Competition winners will share in the national prize pool of nearly $5000, attend an awards night, and have their winning photograph exhibited in a public gallery in each state as part of the Pixel Prize Exhibition.Professor Gail Crossley, Executive Dean of Arts and Sciences, said the Pixel Prize aims to encourage the use of photography as a means of expressing thoughts, feelings and opinions through a vastly dynamic and artistic medium.
“The theme of the competition is community spirit,” she said. “There are many definitions of what community spirit is and in this age of changing technology this definition is constantly evolving.”
“The power and strength of community spirit is evident every day. Locally and globally students cheer on their peers in school carnivals, people mobilise in a crisis, we come together to achieve people's dreams, and the plight of people and animals is known across the globe.”
Entries are currently open and close 31 August, 2011.
