Professor Tracey McDonald has been appointed to a prestigious advisory committee by the Minister for Health
On 29th September 2011, the Minister for Health and Ageing Nicola Roxon announced the Chair and members of the National Lead Clinicians Group. “Strong clinical leadership and engagement is fundamental to the Gillard Government’s Health Reform and the National Lead Clinicians will ensure that we have senior clinical input from across the health sector into its implementation,” said Ms Roxon. “All of the members of the National Lead Clinicians Group bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their important role and patients will benefit from the outcome of their work. “The Government is also working with states and territories to establish Local Lead Clinicians Groups across the country to strengthen the involvement of clinicians at the local level. “Local lead clinician groups will work closely with Local Hospital Networks, Medicare Locals and existing state and territory clinical advisory structures. “Following consultation with stakeholders the policy position on Lead Clinician Groups has today been released,” said Ms Roxon. Amongst the members of the National Lead Clinicians Group are: Professor Tracey McDonald, an aged care research professor who holds the RSL LifeCare Clinical Research Chair of Ageing at the Australian Catholic University.
