Literacy Research Hub
In the context of the National Partnership funding opportunities for schools in the areas of literacy, numeracy and low SES, the Faculty and School of Education NSW have taken the initiative to establish a Literacy Research Hub based in the School of Education at ACU’s Strathfield Campus. This initiative will provide a strategic focus for literacy education and a vital research leadership role. The Hub endeavours to develop a sustained and strategic response to the professional learning, research and scholarship demands in the area of literacy education as well as build the Faculty’s capacity and profile around literacy and language education research.
Focus areas of Literacy Research Hub
Focus areas may include, but will not be limited to, social and cultural aspects of literacy learning and teaching including English curriculum and literature studies; language learning, linguistics and second language areas; multiliteracies and visual literacy; indigenous literacy; boys’ education and gender issues; literacy in the early years; and literacy for disadvantaged groups.
Providing leadership for the Literacy Research Hub is Professor Maureen Walsh. Professor Walsh’s international reputation in the area of literacy education, her national recognition for excellence in teaching and esteem within the School, provides the Faculty with an opportunity to respond strategically, while maintaining momentum within the School.
