The seminar will focus on the following two questions with an emphasis on numeracy
- What's Shaping Curriculum in Literacy and Numeracy in 2012?
- What can curriculum leaders do to make agendas work for them?
Government initiatives around interventions for underachieving students will be looked at.
However, the main part of the seminar will report on some research involving NAPLAN. The first stage looks to engage teachers in using evidence from the school's NAPLAN results to identify their students' needs.
The second stage is to use these data to collaboratively develop pedagogical practices which research has shown to be beneficial in building understanding in mathematics learning.
