Ms Susie Davies-Splitter wins 2011 ACU staff award for Outstanding Community Engagement.

The 'Hearts in Harmony' program comprises the ‘Hearts in Harmony’ Community Choir and ‘Hearts in Harmony’ Community Music events to bring together people from a range of backgrounds and abilities to create happy and healthy communities.
Susie explains, “The choir and the community music events provide a great source of expression for everyone. They are especially beneficial to ACU education students who get an opportunity to see how music and the creative arts can be successfully shared and implemented at a community level. Participants learn to engage with different cultures and build on their social skills by sharing and inspiring others around them.”
There are several objectives of this program:
- To give ACU students, teachers and arts practitioners an opportunity to see how music and the creative arts can be successfully shared and implemented at a community level
- To motivate and inspire students and teachers to implement similar programs within their school communities
- To bring communities/families together through music and the arts
- To give families from low socio-economic areas an opportunity to have access and be exposed to community music and the arts
- Through successful arts experiences, each individual can experience heightened self esteem and confidence in a fun and non threatening environment
- An opportunity to make a difference.
