Finally, our second 2008 issue of AEJT has arrived—almost on time! There are some further changes in line with our attempt to develop technical skills for presentation of articles with images which, we hope, will meet readers' expectations. This is evidently a work in progress.
The articles in AEJT 12 are presented in PDF format which may make for easier download particularly for printing purposes. Copyright acknowledgement of images is now transparent with a simple click. We understand that all images appearing in these pages are copyright free for this type of publication in light of the information and acknowledgements provided. Should this not be the case, please notify the editor by email so that the matter can be resolved and, if necessary, image(s) removed.
I am enormously indebted to Robin Shi whose technical expertise has been matched by his willingness to do whatever it takes (including enormous amounts of time) to bring this issue of AEJT to you. In this he has been assisted by Paul Hudson. I would also like to give particular thanks to Dr Damien Casey whose creative and time-consuming work in finding and matching usable images for all articles—with appropriate copyright acknowledgements—adds enormously to the quality of the presentation. Other people, such as Paul Campbell, Director of Information Technolgy, and Alison Blair, eLearning Coordinator, have also been most helpful.
Eight Feature Articles include John Thornhill's second contribution on Christopher Dawson's Interpretation of History, reflections on Justification, Conscience and Natural Law (Joe O'Leary, Brian Lewis and Tony Kelly) and explorations in Christology and Ecclesiology (Joe Francois Barriquand and Brian Gleeson). Glenn Morrison presents us with an interdisciplinary perspective on Psychosis, while John Kinder focuses on unity and diversity through language.
We have placed ten articles under the rubric of "Practical and Pastoral Theology". Some of these articles were originally presented at the Practical Theology Conference on "Health and Healing", Trinity College, University of Melbourne, November 2007. The theme of the conference is directly taken up with reference to Mental Health (Emma Pierce), the "Wounded Adolescent" (Mary Eastham), Health Care (Mark Shaw), Healthy Shame (Tom Ryan), HIV/Aids in PNG (Phil Gibbs) and Generative Love (Bet Green). Two articles focus on youth issues and spirituality: Paul Tyson's "Spectral View of Contemporary Australian Youth"; and Richard Rymarz's timely piece on "Pilgrims at World Youth Day".
There are two further articles in the "Practical and Pastoral Theology" section which explore aspects of Christian spirituality from diverse perspectives: Michael Foley's trinitarian and christological reflection on human dignity; and Kevin Duffy's insightful analysis of "Eastern Meditation Techniques and Christian Spirituality".
There are a number of Book Reviews. Due to time constraints, we have not included contributions in the Art and Poetry section this time, but aim to do so in future issues.
Again, many thanks for the ongoing, time-consuming and committed work of Deputy Editor, Tony Kelly, to other members of the AEJT Management Board and to our Consultants. Their ongoing support, in the face of recent challenges, is much appreciated.
