Submission of Manuscripts

Submission of high quality papers on any issues of relevance to Catholic Education are invited. Both full-length articles and shorter reports are welcomed. Research reviews should offer a creative synthesis.

Manuscripts for refereeing should conform to the guidelines specified in the Journal and are available from the Editor. In particular, all direct and indirect references to the author(s) should be scrupulously eliminated from submitted manuscripts and author(s) information included in a separate document. The Editor is also happy to advise prospective authors in advance on the suitability of proposed or draft papers for publication in the Journal of Catholic School Studies. Authors should also certify that the manuscript has not been submitted for publication in any other journal.

Preparation of manuscripts

Manuscripts should be prepared in the format used by this Journal, with tables and figures included in the text. Contributors should follow the rules set out in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA, 5th edition). Note especially the proper style for references, both in text and in the Reference list. Text is required to be formatted to 11 pt Times New Roman with 1.5 lines spacing and wide margins. Articles should be sent preferably as an email attachment in Microsoft Word and a hard copy should always be sent as a follow-up.

The Review Process

Each manuscript submitted for publication is processed by the Editor. The manuscript is reviewed blind by two referees. Working from the referees' reports, the Editor decides whether to publish the manuscript. The Editor may require the author(s) of accepted papers to make specific revisions, and may suggest to the author(s) of rejected papers general revisions which might make them publishable.

Letters to the Editor

Readers are invited to react to articles and reviews published in the Journal of Catholic School Studies by expressing their views to the Editor. The Editor reserves the right to refuse to publish letters or to edit them in consultation with the author(s). Longer responses may be submitted in the form of an article which will be reviewed in the usual way before publication. In both cases, the author(s) of the article or review may be offered the opportunity of a rejoinder to be published in the same issue.

Submission of Books for Review

Books for review should be sent to the Editor at the address below.
