What do our graduates say about us ...?

"As an experienced early childhood educator, the ideas for the research were derived from my experiences of working with young children, colleagues and families in a range of early childhood settings. My doctoral research examined early childhood teachers' beliefs and practices about learning, teaching and Religious Education. Initially, I was enrolled in the Doctor of Education program at ACU National, and following confirmation of candidacy, I transferred to the Doctor of Philosophy award after consultation with my supervisors. I completed the Doctor of Philosophy degree part-time over 7 years, whilst working in various sessional and contracted positions as lecturer and researcher at ACU National, Griffith University and QUT. In the final stages of completing my PhD, I secured a position as Senior Lecturer in Childhood Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University in the United Kingdom. For me, completing my PhD is a real achievement."
DR CATHERINE MEEHAN

"As a second-year doctoral student my experience has been both uplifting and personally challenging. I chose ACU National for the structure embedded in the course, then the personal approach exhibited in the weekend feedback sessions as well as the in-depth mentoring sessions conducted throughout the entire course. The allocation of supervisors very early in the EdD program hightenened the focus of my work and reduced the wastage of time and resources that could have occurred if I did not have a dedicated academic supporting my thesis. Lastly, the collegiality has assisted me to navigate this new world of academia with its protocols, terminology and expectations."
THERESE NOLAN
Vocational Education in Schools Specialist
Therese Nolan Consulting, QLD

"Having just successfully completed my doctorate, I would highly recommend the Doctor of Education to others who are interested in actualising their potential. The academic staff involved in the doctoral program are highly motivated and approachable, making a difficult journey easier than it would otherwise be."
DR GORDON HOWELL
Project Manager
School of Engineering, University of Queensland

"I found completing my Research Master’s degree to be a challenging but rewarding experience. It was a wonderful process of growth, both professionally and personally. It allowed me to become a better teacher by understanding the effect on children’s learning, while also providing me with the opportunity to become aware of my own ability to plan as a self-directed learner and be disciplined enough to commit to the study. The course structure gave me freedom to work at my own pace while providing enough structure and support from the ACU National academic staff to complete it well. It is my opinion that after completing this process one would definitely feel comfortable moving on to a future doctorate research degree."
