My experience at ACU has been very positive. I have undertaken a course of study which I have become increasingly more interested with over time. I have also met a range of individuals not only in the same course as me but who are at ACU whom I have become close friends with. The social aspect of the university is one of the many positive traits it has.
I am also a part of the committee for the St Patrick's Law Students Society. This has allowed me to take an active role in the events and opportunities created for Law students at the university as well as being able to bond with students in other year levels who also study Law.
The orientation day in year 12 appealed to me very much. How modern the university is intrigued me. The lecturers and other faculty staff from the Thomas More Law School also grabbed me with the energy and passion they put into not only the seminars, but by also answering questions from individuals. It showed that the teachers care about their students.
The ability and organisation for students to complete a double degree was also something that appealed to me which has allowed me to study what I would like at a tertiary level.
I have developed great relationships with my lecturers and tutors in my time at ACU. They have always had time for not one, but all students in their class. In my opinion, their service has contributed to the common good of the university and its students.
Although the university is young, the resources that it possesses are immense. ACU can provide for students from all backgrounds who wish to pursue a wide variety of professions. For those who wish to study law, yes it is hard, but the work you put in will help reward you as an individual. This discipline opens a number of doorways to not only practice and pursue a career in the law, but a range of other sectors.
When I first began university, I was interested in pursuing the international relations pathway. After completing some law subjects, my interest expanded to the areas of commercial law work and the banking/finance sector. I am open to whatever comes my way in my time at university, however, having undertaken the subjects that I have, the areas of diplomacy/international law and commercial law and banking/finance appeal most to me.
