Dr May Cheong is a Senior Lecturer at the Thomas More School of Law, Australian Catholic University and also Professorial Visiting Fellow at UNSW Sydney. She was formerly Professor and Dean at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya. May has also previously practised as a commercial litigation lawyer at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia having being admitted as Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.
May has more than twenty years experience in academia and has taught a wide range of subjects in private law including contract, property, restitution. Her current teaching units in ACU are Contract law and False or misleading conduct and economic torts where she is the National Lecturer in Charge. May has also an extensive supervisory experience having supervised at doctoral, masters and undergraduate levels.
Dr May Cheong's main research areas are contract law, commercial law, consumer law, unfair contracts and remedies. Her other research interest is competition law particularly on the legal and regulatory frameworks of competition law regimes in ASEAN member states. Her articles in these areas has been published in journals including Journal of Contract Law and World Competition.
