Extremely positive to say the least. I have really enjoyed every aspect of ACU as the amount of support I received from my lecturers, tutors, AskACU, desk staff, the career advisors who helped with creating a resume, librarians and the lovely people I meet all made my experience an amazing one to look back on.
Also I should mention the little things the university provides that have made it an even better experience. For instance, during study week, there are free workshops on Mindfulness Meditation, Stress less, Relax more to get students ready for exams. ACU also offers a lot of different activities such as theatre where you can audition, debating workshops which engage students and which allowed me to gain friends.
I had a few offers at the time and I remember I had no idea where to go and after attending open days, walking around the campus, meeting the lovely staff working, I had a gut instinct that ACU was for me.
My professional experience unit allowed me to participate in community engagement programs in which I volunteered for a homeless shelter. The charity provides spiritual, emotional, psychological and social support to those individuals who are disadvantaged. The experience was eye opening and it was very hands on, in which I learnt a lot about social justice issues.
I couldn’t say there was one highlight as it was a mix of learning the different cultures, meeting amazing people, tasting the different foods and sight-seeing. It was my first time going to Europe and I am forever grateful I had the chance to go whilst studying at university.
Don’t fear university! Studying at ACU will be exciting because of the endless support and amazing people you meet. Just be open to new experiences and be positive. There is always someone that will help you and know that your not alone.
Hopefully I will be a successful Human Resource Manager, specialising in what I love after being a generalist in HR for a few years. I hope to make a positive impact in the organisation I work for and ensure I create a positive working culture.
