Background on Speaker - Steve James

Steve James describes himself as a “prac-ademic” with over 20 years’ experience as a senior manager. He brings a wealth of industry know-how to his academic teaching. His extensive expertise spans across a wide range of businesses, sectors and industries. He holds a number of business degrees including an Executive MBA. He is also a qualified executive coach and business mentor.

Having worked on a number of extremely high profile local and international projects, Steve is well experienced with NFPs, Advertising, Media and the Entertainment sector. Most recently, he was responsible for the project management and launch of Freeview Plus for the Australian free to air TV networks. Until early 2010, he was Head of Advertising, Marketing and Research for the commercial radio industry in Australia (8+ years) and launched digital radio late 2009. Prior to that, Steve held senior management positions with ACP Magazines Sydney, Olympic Games, News Limited, The Daily and Sunday Telegraphs, The Herald and Weekly Times Limited (HWT) Melbourne.

Steve now manages his own consulting business; Steve. James Consults, a specialist practice with a particular focus on Advertising, Entertainment, Media, PR, Digital & Marketing Strategy and IT Project Management.
