Hiroko Kawashima, a fourth-year Bachelor of Social Work student, shares her experience as a student at ACU.
"Ever since I was a teenager, social work has been my inner calling. Although I have completed other studies in the past, I was always passionate about social work. I am happy I am realising my dream through ACU.
"The Bachelor of Social Work teaches practical aspects of social work in the classroom prior to doing fieldwork placement. The student-friendly lecturers and resources, for example the library and the Academic Skills Unit, make studying at ACU thoroughly enjoyable. "My current work experience and placements include casual work with the Brain Injury Respite and Development Service (BIRDS) at Hunters Hill Ryde Community Services, and a placement in the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) known as DoCS in Windsor.
In five years, I would like to be working as a Senior Caseworker in the disability sector. I think studying at ACU is a privilege and plan to make use of it."
