Tracey Wenzel, Master of Psychology (Clinical)

Tracey WenzelTracey Wenzel, Master of Psychology (Clinical) student, discusses her experience at ACU.

"I decided to study at ACU because you can really get to know the staff, and they are always happy to go the extra mile to help you. The supportive learning environment here is second to none, and the lecturers and supervisors are highly qualified, experienced practitioners.

"One of the most surprising things about the course was the support I received from the other postgraduate students. All of the students are very encouraging of each other, which really helps us to make it through such a demanding program.

"The Master of Psychology program at ACU gives students the practical skills needed to confidently enter the workforce. Having the Brisbane Psychology and Counselling Clinic on campus has allowed us to obtain practical experience in working with clients through an internship. ACU offers Master of Psychology students clinical supervision from experienced and highly qualified supervisors.

ACU has offered me a number of opportunities and experiences that will be invaluable in the development of my professional career. I am completing an internship at the Brisbane Psychology and Counselling Clinic, which has given me great experience working with clients, under the direction of highly qualified supervising psychologists.

"I have also been given a number of opportunities that go beyond the prescribed program. In collaboration with another intern and supervisor, I developed and implemented a treatment program for children with anger management problems, which we were able to administer at a local school.

"I have also been involved in vocational assessments at local schools, where we assisted year 12 students preparing for their QTAC applications.

"Being a student at ACU has really opened my eyes to what a supportive learning environment is all about and I feel confident that I have a bright future ahead of me."
