Meet Nicamil Sanchez
Nicamil K. Sanchez is a PhD candidate at our Canberra Campus. He is a recipient of the prestigious Australian Leadership Awards which have enable him to pursue his PhD. He obtained his Social Work degree from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, a Masters in Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines, and then undertook postgraduate studies in Gerontology and Geriatrics from the University of Malta European Centre of Gerontology and Geriatrics and was an Academic Visitor at the University of Oxford's Institute of Ageing through a scholarship from Help the Aged. Nicamil is a member of the Council of Australian Postgraduate Students and a Student Representative to ERA and AASW. Currently he is the National President of the ACU Postgraduate Association.
Nicamil's Project title is: "Journey toward Successful Ageing in the Philippines". He is hoping that his dissertation could influence the development and enhancement of social welfare policy and programs for older persons in the Philippines that could be replicated in developing countries. In addition, the research findings could also contribute to the wider literature of Gerontology, Social Work, and Successful Ageing.
