About the ACU Occupational Therapy Upper Limb Clinic
The ACU Occupational Therapy Upper Limb Clinic is located at the ACU Banyo Campus, and offers an intensive rehabilitation program aimed at improving a person’s hand and arm use following a stroke. Sessions are run by third or fourth year Occupational Therapy students under the supervision of a qualified and experienced Occupational Therapist.
The clinic uses Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) to help stroke survivors. Despite the high level of research evidence supporting this approach, it is not able to be offered in many hospitals or rehabilitation facilities as it is both time and labour intensive to run. At ACU we are proud to provide this valuable service to the community and give a tremendous learning opportunity to third and fourth year Occupational Therapy students.
The Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) 'Bootcamp'
The CIMT Bootcamp is a program for people who have had a stroke that has affected their hand and arm. It is a two week intensive program using an innovative approach called Constraint Induced Movement Therapy or CIMT.
