All services are delivered by student practitioners under the supervision of qualified professionals (Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist, Social Worker, Exercise Physiologist etc as appropriate).

ACU Health Clinic Fitzroy is located in the Mary Glowery Building, on Victoria Parade, Fitzroy. It is within walking distance of St Vincent’s hospital and a short tram ride from the CBD. We are committed to providing our students, staff and the wider community with the highest standard of care and best practice patient outcomes.

  • Paediatric Fluency (stuttering)
    For children who are experiencing difficulties with fluency. Clients have the opportunity to participate via an innovative telehealth service delivery model or through face:face sessions. A range of evidence-based therapies are utilised to promote fluent behaviours.

    The service runs weekly on Wednesdays.

  • Communication Rehabilitation (Neurological)
    For adults who experience communication difficulties due to Aphasia, Parkinson’s disease, Motor Neurone disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Dysarthria or other neurological condition. The program involves individual therapy and partner/carer training and support for people with communication difficulties of neurological origin.

    The service runs weekly on Thursdays and Fridays.

  • Adult General Communication Skills
    The General Communication Skills service provides a screening service to check your general communication skills and identify any areas of speech or language that may impact on your professional and/or personal life. The screening process covers aspects of communication such as articulation, language, voice and fluency, amongst other things.

    Individual follow up sessions can be arranged if required. The program has a particular focus on voice and voice care and therefore is particularly suitable for people who depend on verbal communication in their professional roles (eg teachers, coaches, actors, singers etc).

    As well as individual sessions, this program offers group Voice Care seminars which provide information, training and strategies to help you protect your voice from damage.

  • CPtherapy
    CPtherapy is a private practice operating out of ACU Health Clinics’ rooms. CPtherapy is a specialised, private occupational therapy service for young children with cerebral palsy with a specific focus on providing early intervention services for children with unilateral cerebral palsy (hemiplegia), aged 0 to 5 years.

Within the School of Exercise Science our Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP) have an extensive range of experience and expertise, working with professional athletes, health organisations, community clubs and individuals across the lifespan. They conduct physical health screens and prescribe exercise to a wide variety of the population. Our AEP’s are dedicated to providing students, staff and the local community with the best possible service.

  • Exercise Lifestyle
    This program operates for 6 weeks during Semester 2 each year. Each client is given a physical health screen and an individualised, goal-directed, exercise program which is developed and overseen by postgraduate students completing their Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology.

    The clinic starts mid-September and runs through until the end of October.
